Not to step on any toes, but the Speed6 and Speed 3 share the same engine, just tuned differently. Since these engines are DI (direct injection), there are a lot of issues modding them; fuel limits, ECU, parts, DI tuning, etc... List just keeps going... Once you reach 320 or so wheel horsepower, you are limited unless you start R&Ding your own parts...
Great cars if you leave them stock...
At least that was my experience with them.
How did you get that much horse out of it? Was it stock?
and btw the new RS would out handle and perform most stock gt's but they cant be modded nearly as much as a mustang can, so it is kind of up in the air.

Not stock, had all the breathing mods; intake, turbo inlet pipe, upgraded top mounted intercooler, full turbo back exhaust, and a piggy back computer adjusting fuel and timing with an extra 2-3 psi of boost. That was pretty much it for power mods.
Speed3 has a lot of potential if there was a way to crack the ECU completely. Plus that stock turbo is crap. That car has serious issues...Mazda half assed it.
its mazda..what do you expect? look at the failure that is the rx8.
The weird thing is that my car before the Mazdspeed 3 was a 1999 Miata and I loved that car...that thing was bullet proof and you could not kill it. Those cars run forever as long as they have fuel and oil. I thought all Mazdas were the same...big mistake. The Miata seems to be the only true 100% Mazda (don't know about the RX8) while the other cars are a mix of parts.
My Mazdaspeed 3 was more Ford than anything else. Everything in the power plant had FoMoCo stamped on it, ECU Mitsubishi, brakes and suspension Volvo, etc...that damn car was a bin of parts slapped together...
I know that Ford Europe has some pretty bad ass vehicles... I would definitely welcome the RS here. Though I'm done with high powered 4 cyl engines.
Ford has some impressive models in Europe and Austrailia...i dont understand why they dont bring more of them here...look at GM...do they sell a car that didnt begin as a holden or vauxhall?
you know, ive never met a miata owner who didnt love it...i just think that id like too jammed into one to enjoy it. as for the rx8, im pretty sure that mess is all mazda..i cant imagine fmc had much engineering input on that one.
