During Saturday's Woodward Dream Cruise festivities, we headed down to Ford's display in Ferndale, Michigan called Mustang Alley. On display in Mustang Alley, next to his Falken Drift 2010 Mustang, was Vaughn Gittin Jr.'s new RTR 2010 Mustang project. Gittin beamed like a proud papa when talking about his new Mustang. The RTR Mustang is Vaughn’s vision of what the ultimate street legal Mustang would be. Having studied what Roush, Shelby and Saleen have done in the past, Vaughn wanted to bring a more youth oriented approach to the S197 platform.
Vaughn has been very involved with the marketing of the 2010, having helped launch it last November at the 2010 reveal in Los Angeles. His Mustang 2010 Unleashed campaign over in Japan speaks volumes on the versatility of the car and its ability to perform on some of the most famous drift circuits in Japan. Who better to design a high performance Mustang than Vaughn? With the RTR, he has combined Japanese high-end tuner styling with the 2010 Mustang’s modern look.
The RTR Mustang features Gittin inspired front and rear fascias, adjustable rear wing and reflective stripes. Rolling stock is Falken FK452 255/40/ZR19 tires an HRE 19” Carbon Wheels with blue accent stripes. The RTR features a full Ford Racing suspension and we’re sure some power updates are in the works.
The car is reported to debut at SEMA this November and future plans may include a RTR conversion package available for the masses.
