Naysayers to the ecoboost powered Mustang may change their tunes when they start to see what this motor is capable of with just a new intake and some tuning. There's already new SHO's (that's.........a 4500 lb car) running mid 12's with just a CAI and tune. Put that in a 3500-3600 lb Mustang with some nice gearing, and get the hell outta the way.
There's already plenty of scuttlebutt from some engineering folks at Dearborn that the ecoboost six is capable of 500 hp with just added boost and tuning. Still waiting for some courageous SHO owner to go for it. I'm giving the upcoming 5.0 V8 more than enough benefit of the doubt.......but a similarly priced model with this drivetrain would be awfully tempting to someone who cares more about going fast than they do about sounding badass. Just food for thought ppl.

i'm just hoping that it the new 5.0 does come with 400HP from the factory, that it isn't already pushed to it's limits and doesn't respond to mods.
It would suck to do full bolts on and a tune and gain like... 10hp... It's not gonna be much fun if you have to change HCI, just to make a little bit of gains or boost.
I'm just thinknig of the 350Z and how poor it responds to mods...
I'm hoping the 6speed has some close ratio gears like the new Genesis Coupe(5th gear is 1:1). I think our gears are too long. I would like 5 usable forward gears and 1 high way gear... not 4 usable and 2 highway gears.

There's no way that a 5.0 will be maxed out at 400HP. The 4.6 3V doesn't even max out at that point. I'm not sure that the 6 speed will make it into the GT, but if it does, you can bet on two overdrive gears for fuel economy (same as the corvettes, camaros, 370Zs, etc).

I don't think he's talking about being maxed out, I think he means coming "over tuned" from the factory. Such as minimal gains with bolt ons.
Having a 2v I know exactly what he means, the 2v isn't "over tuned" by any means, but not responding to simple bolt ons SUCKS.
I like the idea of a V6 turbo. The car my brother and I are building is a 3.0L turboed engine and after tune it will be around 650HP, and some have pushed them to 1000 (lots involved) but the point is its possible. I have long loved anything charged because of what it can do. you can take the baddest american V8 and build that motor but it only gets faster form there by adding a charger. I hope the 5.0L returns and I hope the V6T is an option
the ecoboost engine is sweet in my opinion very impressive for a v6. it isnt that more fuel efficient though.
if they had the ecoboost in the v6s or an option for the v6's it would be sweet.
replacing the v8 in the gt with an ecoboost wouldnt be a good idea though.
loud v8 with lots of torque is what a mustang is about.
