Hey Ford fans, wanna hear what GM is doing to keep lost Pontiac and Saturn customers?
Just had to post this, sorry it isn't directly Ford related but I hope you guys can get a laugh out of it. With a strategy like this there will probably be a lot of us guys coming on over to the Blue Oval sooner than later.
GM announced today that they want to send certificates for a free oil change to it's "free agents" (lost Pontiac and Saturn new car owners). Susan Docherty of GM says this will get us into Chevy and Buick dealers.
Frankly I think it will get me to the nearest Ford dealer. The '11 Mustang with a 400+ HP 5.0 is looking better and better.
I sent 'em an e-mail saying they could keep the worthless certificate (I change my own oil anyway) and shove it up their ass.
Enjoy the laugh!!!

GM Fails to realize that with the exception of the Vette, and the new Camaro, they really build nothing attractive, look at the years of zero develpoment on their small car platforms, they ran that same Cavalier platform for ever...

In some ways GM's problem has been the opposite of that. Think about when having a Cadillac was the **** in America, it was the ultimate status symbol to own a Cadillac in America. Now, what do you think of when you think of a Cadillac.....? You just don't think of the same stardom, luxuriosness, nostalgia or pride when you think of a Cadillac anymore, at all. People are buying Infinities, Lexus', Audis, etc now. Same with the Impala......they've changed it so much and gone so far away from its original roots that they have disposed of everything they built up on these corner-stone cars in the past. I mean what does a modern Impala mean to you when you see it nowadays? Compare that to the impact that a classic impala has on people. There are many examples of this all throughout GM.
chevy has the advantage even though the tundra has a lower MSRP?
chevy has the advantage even though the dodge and toyota have more hp?
since when is having a higher displacement an advantage and chevy has less too!
So i guess chevys whole marketing plan is to try to make itself look good against it competition, even if it actually doesnt have the advantage, itll still put a check mark next to the chevy advantage thing
LOL that's some good stuff free agent.
Ugh...car companies have become soo gimmicky now it's disgusting. "One free oil change if you stop by our dealership!!!"
I really admire Ford's business model right now. I want to stay with a privately owned American car company for my next new car purchase and things look good at Ford and especially good with the Coyote engine coming out soon. Who knows maybe this free agent will sign with Ford soon.
