GT500 is getting an aluminum block for 2011. It's unknown if there will be a hp bump. There are alot of rumors about it getting a TT 5.0L in the years following 2011.
The Super Snake is not a Ford product, it is a tuner vehicle from Shelby.

well yeah i know that i was just thinking on the track that if the GT gets a nice upgrade Shelby might wana do something special to the GT500 or Super Snake, i suppose the Cobra Jet could be considered the upgrade too but Shelby didn't make that. Just thinking out loud

There are rumors that the future(2012 and beyond) GT500 will have a TT 5.0L, which should make more power then the current S/C 5.4L and at a much lighter weight.
Also, the name GT500 never meant it had 500hp. The original GT500's were rated at 335hp, while the original GT350 was rated at 306hp.

I don't think the Shelby will need any HP boost over the current numbers. 540 is plenty, and the change to an aluminum block means significant weight reduction and improvement of forward to rear weight bias. That alone will improve the car's performance. Adding more power (considering the car rides on relatively narrow street tires) will only offset the perks introduced by the aluminum block. JMHO.
540 hp in a 3650-3800 lb Mustang will be more than adequate to compete with whatever GM does for the Z28.

Well the GT500 is now making 540hp so it would be tough to catch up with bolt ons. Plus, we know what happens when a GT500 starts going to town with bolt ons.

I for one, am thrilled they put an aluminum block in the GT500. Reducing the weight of that engine will help with it's twisty performance as well as reduce that pig like curb weight.
I wonder how the 5.0 Coyote will respond to mods? Or how long it will take for manufacturers to make mods for it?
