2014 Mustang GT 500hp?

A local Ford technician told me that Ford has a 6.3L engine for its trucks, and the block can handle 7.0L, which is a 427ci. He said to not be surprised if you're seeing a Mustang GT with a 7.0L V8 in the near future.

i would rather they make the car lighter and keep about the same power as the 2011 5.0. a 7.0l engine would be extremely overkill.......
the car would be perfect if they dropped it to corvette range in weight....as unlikely as that may be.

I guess I kinda do care about drag racing, but there are ways to beef up a IRS. Terminators have to deal with it and camaros. I dont' think it will be that big of a problem unless your planning on running a built motor thats pushing 550+ hp.
My car is driven on the street more than at the drag strip just like most of us.

I agree that one of the great things about the mustang has always been its affordability...and now the more HP the more $. Another direction they said they might go would by high tech like the GT-R...which of course would make it super expensive...GTR comes in with a $69,900 sticker.
Ford does have a 6.3L engine, that is confirmed. It will be coming out in next years Raptor as an optional engine.
As for making a NA 500HP motor...I've seen shows where guys have taken 383CI motors and made 900HP NA...the technology is there...and there was one guy who put a V10 Vanquish engine in a Mustang GT...it's possible

I would think the 7.0L would go into the cobra first. Either way I can't wait to see what they do for 2014. I'll be all over it. I say do a couple of different special anniversary cars, BUT do a 6 figure end all....be all mustang. Something like a Ford GT but better to whip up on everything. As you know the technology for that car would only trickle down to the base GT over the years.

Truth be told, the vast majority of us Mustang buyers DON'T care about drag racing! I much prefer my 'stangs be corner carvers (to as much a degree as possible) rather than straight line quarter horses. And Ford is finally catching on that most 'stangers never go to a drag strip. Hence the introduction of the Track Pack and the FR3 suspension packages. Not to mention that the 2011s will all have suspension characteristics of the Track Pack.
The 'stang is finally growing up!
