Well, not that concept one. The natural gas concept Charger was before this one you linked. The rear doors were much much smaller, and they opened out suicide-style, kind of like how the 05 F150 extended cab mini rear doors open up.

And the front end of the natural gas Charger was true to the 68-74 Chargers, with hide-away lamps in the grille. Not integrated lamps in the hood.

Although, if Charger must go sedan, the concept you linked should have been it. The Crysler 300 is an UGLY car. That should never ever had the Charger name slapped on it.

I have to say, and sorry to those who still view the 2011's as retro-cash-ins, that the newest Stangs look pretty damn close to perfect in the forward and side profiles. I say.......tweak the frontend and sides a little bit more (sexier and more aggressive is always a safe bet) and then go with a totally badass rearend redesign. THAT will make for a great 2014.

You just can't scrap the design that Ford rebooted the Mustang with in 05 in suddenly come out with something totally unrelated. You're going to kill the market for the car. There's plenty of middle ground to be had here. The 2010-2011's have done a great job of blending the 05-09's retro with more modern styling formulas. All Ford has to do is continue in that direction. This isn't about "retro" anymore....this is about identity. Ford has made the Mustang relevant in the public eye again with what it has done during the last 6 years. You can't sidestep that without risking damage to that identity. You don't go back to the drawing board for something that is working......you build on it.

Say what you will, but when people see a 2011 Mustang......they KNOW it's a Mustang without having to look at the badges or read the brochure. Like I always say to people who complain about the Mustang's current styling: there's a reason GM needed to put "Camaro" badges on its 5th gen ponycar. You don't want that for the next Mustang.

True but I want evolution, like every other car. Idk about you but the 94-04 mustangs were a huge hit too in the 90s-00s. They redesigned the car (well, minus using the fox chassis) and made the mustang a hit again. They did the same in 2005 when they released the current gen. I hope in 2014, ford "reinvents" the mustang like they did in 1994 and 2005. I honestly think they should keep the same S197 platform, but they need to ditch most if the retro stuff and "reinvent" the car again. Everytime they do thus, the car is a hit. I honestly think that doing retro for another 7-8 years will hurt the car in the long run. There will be WAY too many retro stangs on the road. I like seeing different generations of the mustang on the road, personally. Let the car evolve.

Actually, if all the mid 70's thru 98's vanished I wouldnt miss them. The 93-98's were FUGLY.

Some times reinventing a loved car is a bad thing.

Compare these numbers Mustang vs Camaro.......

Notice what happened to Camaro when they "reinvented" the car in the late 90's.

They evolved the design into some thing that nobody wanted.

I couldnt agree with that statement more......

But also look at the numbers in 1974 for the reviled Mustang II. Huge sales numbers sparked by a fresh style and a public that was concerned about fuel savings.

Kinda like today...

I'm betting the 2014 Mustang retains the backseat, but gets smaller.

Damn...and here I thought the rear of my 2005 mustang GT was ugly...which is why I had no problems trading it for the 2010....

Yeah you know when I first saw the 2010s I didn't like them much. I think that was just the initial shock to the system though... when you see a new design for the first time. After having owned a 2007 and a 2009 GT, I honestly like my 2010 better. I love the "hips" under the rear quarter windows, the pissed off looking front end, and yes, I even like the rear end.

Same here, when the 10 first came out I complained about the rear end and the looks of the newer and fresher design. Now after they have been out over a year now I love the 10-11 body style. It is the initial shock of a new design, I agree.
