2012 Mustang changes
Hey gang, I was over at BlueOvalNews.com where you have a lot of Ford employees on the forum and they're saying that Sterling Gray is being dropped from the color lineup for the 2012 Mustang and Lava Red is being added along with a new interior color of Charcoal/Plum for the Premium models (I think it's another Premier interior combo). Also, last day to order a 2011 is Nov 18th. Job 1 for the 2012 is in Jan 2011. The only new feature mentioned was reverse sensing system. It's being packaged with the Security package along with HIDs.
I'm just wondering where's the demand for Lava Red and why Ford would think that deleting a popular color like Sterling Gray without adding a like color is a good idea? I can see replacing an unpopular color with a totally different color but this doesn't make any sense. I'd like to see Kona blue replaced with a blue that's slightly lighter colored, like the blue on the '64-'66 Cobras. Kona looks black on cloudy days or at night. The interior colors need attention, I'd like a medium gray color offered and when you order a color other than Charcoal Black for the interior, much of the interior should be THAT color so, how about at least making the center console match the interior color as well as the carpeting too.

I don't know. Ford never seems to miss out on an opportunity to give fans of red cars plenty of choices with these Mustangs. There always seems to be at least 2 available at any given time....one dark metallic and one bright clear coat. Does this mean they'll be axing one of the current reds......or just bringing in a 3rd?

Any tweaks to massage more power out of the Coyote?
They can get an easy 20 more crank BHP just by junking the sorry 2011 750 CFM air intake box and putting in a 900 CFM box and retune for that. No additional mods needed.

May have jumped the gun?
I sent an email to Ford asking why they would discontinue a popular color like Sterling Gray without offering a similar color in it's place and here's the reply I got:
Thank you for contacting Ford Motor Company on 11/18/2010 03:31:17 AM. We appreciate the time you have taken to write us.
We are happy to hear you're interested in the 2012 Mustang GT, however, at this point, we have not finalized the available colors. The colors are still subject to change so it is possible that the Sterling Gray you are interested in may still become available.
If you have any further questions about the 2012 Mustang, we would be happy to answer once we have the finalized information.
You can reach the Marketing Program Headquarters by calling 1-800-334-4375, we are open M-F 9am-6pm EST.
Thank you for contacting Ford Motor Company.
Those of you that don't agree with the proposed color choices for the 2012 Mustang, don't just sit on your hands and lament, contact Ford and let them know you're not happy about it.
