2014 Ford Mustang GT
The 2014 Ford Mustang is said to be an entirely new beast not an evolution of the current model. Rumors are that it will feature an independent rear suspension built on the next generation Ford Falcon ( Australia Model ) and an upcoming next generation Lincoln model.
Ford has indicated that the Falcon will be phased out due to declining sales and in order to make the new Independant rear suspension (IRS) affordable the Mustang must go global. This is all part of Ford’s plan called Ford Global One.
Some drag racing and drift enthusiasts want to see IRS as an option only not standard on all mustangs. On the flip side IRS will allow the new mustang to hold it’s own in the handling department with many import European & Japanese cars such as the M3, EVOs, STI’s and others. The 2014 Ford Mustang will still rear wheel drive, let’s just pray that Ford can keep the price point near current levels and not ruin what is a spectacular performing american pony car today.
What to expect from the 2014 Ford Mustang coming late 2013? Many industry insiders are speculating a smaller and lighter car, better gas milage and the adoption of advanced turbocharged V-6 technology.

Sounds like it could be a very cool car. Definitely looks more futuristic. I'm willing to bet a lot of that design changes in the coming years. I'd be surprised to see something with so many lines and contours, etc. Although it is pretty cool looking...

Too me, I too think the styling is too radical. I hope the body designers go back and adjust it more.
As for the engine, I hope the GT will NOT go with the V6, but stay with the Coyote and incorporate direct injection and all the other bits of Ecoboost to it.
And for the top trim (whether they will bring back the Cobra name or continue to call it GT500), supercharge that and milk out that 650 crank BHP the Coyote is destined to produce.
