I call BS on that one. I respect them as Mustang - but good God they're ugly - and 15 years short of classic. I can't stand any cars of any make or model from those years.

Legally, a classic, as defined by state law in these parts, is 25 years old, or older.

The Fox body was launched in 1979, so that would make them, oh, 33 years old about now. Excepting for a few hold out 88-93 models. They are only 18-24 years old. Dang, sounds like the girls my wife doesn't let me chase...

Its been my understanding 25 years is what makes an antique. To be a classic a car has to exhibit new design or great popularity or technological breakthrough. Now I see that the Antique Automobile Club of America calls 45 years as antique and classic as 20-45 years old. The state of Florida will register a 30 year old car as antique. I am now confused!

I had a 73 Grande a few years back in high school. Loved the way it looked, it was the only one in town with that body style and got more compliments then the 65 coupe a friend of mine owned. We both had "sissy" colors (atleast thats what our jealous classmates said) mine was baby blue and his was yellow.

When I was in High School in 1989, the cool new rides were Fox Mustangs and IROC Camaros. In terms of classics, us "kids" wanted anywhere between a 1964 - 1972 muscle car. Those were considered "classics" back then. They were around 20 years old. Those same "cool new" rides are now over 20 years old. What this means it that I'm getting older and the view on classics change with it. Just because YOU don't think a FOX body is cool, doesn't mean it isn't a classic. The FOX body Mustang arguably redefined the American muscle/car sports car market in the 80's. I understand the niche that the Fox bodied Mustang has carved out in automotive history, and therefore it should and will always be considered a classic...and this is coming from a Mopar guy.

BTW...I have a 72' Duster and a '73 Duster 340. But I didn't think it would be relevant on a Ford forum.

66 Galaxie 500 fastback.
*sigh* no room, money, or time for one right now.

Two kids in collge with a third one in a couple years. Two car garage in a suburban neighborhood and soon to have 5 cars in the household, one for each person in the house.

Once I start kicking kids out of the house, that's what I'm getting, a classic project car.
