Default Race Mustang vs Drift Mustang: Which is Faster?

Here's something I haven't seen before. Two Mustangs, one set up for drifting, the other tuned for the track, lapping a circuit at the same time. Both feature champion drivers--Formula D ace Vaughn Gittin Jr and 3-Time NASA National Champion Chris Cobetto, respectively--behind the wheel, so the friendly face-off should highlight the car's strengths. Without wanting to give too much away, this battle didn't turn out exactly the way I thought it would....

Head over to the blog to check out the video:

"Battle" ??

"we didnt do times or anything we just wanted to"....

...waste your time showing you a race car sitting behind a really popular mustang guy making lots of noise and smoke.

What was the point here again?

Anyone else waiting for them to line back up for the real run?

I think drifting as vehicular art is awesome, but a pro road course driver in my car could beat him drifting.

Time them, and the race car will win. Put them in a lapped race, and the drifter will win as long as they can keep traction and "block" from the front. Was a cool comparison, but not a realistic one.

That's provided the race car doesn't just beat the drifter to the first corner, then it's over before it starts. You can't block from behind...

GM is always "making claims". Too bad many of them don't seem to be independently reproducable.

Honestly, I think this was more for entertainment. It was a cool watch, but I would like to reverse the roles and see what happens. Some of us know better.
