I also have a hard time believing that Ford would put a 4 cylinder turbo 300+ HP motor in a Mustang which would be in direct competition with their own 252hp Focus ST.

There would be some overlap, but I wouldn't exactly consider those two models to be direct competitors.

How well a turbo 4 Mustang would play out in the marketplace beyond any short-term spike in sales might depend a whole lot on how good the off-boost response ends up being or how well it can be crutched via transmission gear ratios. Or both.

If anything, it'd be the 300-ish HP 3.7L V6 on the chopping block, at least as far as the Mustang lineup would be concerned.

Who said anything about replacing the 5.0?

I don't see how those are truly competing products at all....I don't personally think I would ever buy a performance focus, but I would buy a 310hp blown 4 mustang...very different markets IMO.

a mustang and a focus (st or not) are not direct competitors, in the slightest. even if you put a turbo 4 in one.

I'm assuming this would be replacing the V6 platform... not the Coyote...

Everyone has valid points, but 4 Bangor turbo is nothing special, STI,evo are prime examples, abd there floating near 300hp you think in 2015 they will stay at that power? but the mileage is very key on the stang I agree.. All I'm saying is for a new 2015 to roll around with a new design to only get a 310hp motor, and whatever the torque is, from a 3.7 v6 that has 305 2 years earlier is not that intriguing to me to wanna buy that platform; in the same sentence I prolly will buy one, not really for the motor but for the redesign, IRS etc I'm sure deff gonna love the blow off valve I bought this 3.7 cause it was a WORLD of difference, I don't think the 4 Bangor will have that effect but idunno I could be very wrong..

the STi has been around 300hp crank since it came to the US. lots of things have changed about them but the overall power output has remained the same.

same with the evo. no real major changes in power, but lots of platform changes.
