Update!! On the lost & found Bullitt '68 Mustang 390!
The sample in question has been moved to this side of the border.(c.3/2017) Paramount, S. Calif to be exact pending further & slow restoration of this 'gem'!! Hopefully, some new pics will emerge. Same with the pics of the other hidden Bullitt Mtg 390 in KY or TN area.(Vin #559). Maybe the owner will now re-consider a few more options with it.
It will be also interesting to track down how Vin# 558 went from the recycle/junkyard place in S. Calif c.'68 to S. of the Border, Baja Calif near Cabio San Lucas c. 2016. to be exact. What happened to the owners when it was painted red and then white??? Will they still have some pics stashed somewhere in some boxes in Mexico??? Who has the original Ford V-8 390 nowadays????

Lost & Found Bullitt MUstang In Mexico!

The rumors about a 3rd Bullitt '68 sample floating around is just that a rumor. When stuntman Loren Janes talked about 3 cars being used if the "Bullitt" film he probable included also the other camera automobile, (not seen at all) to film the sequences of the Chargers. It was a '66 Corvette chasis with a driver & a camera man in the back only. FOMOCO bought only 2 '68 Mustang GT 390 vin #s 558 & Vin # 559.

There you have it folks, trying to stop after a final bump to the '68 Charger. Note: how the R/Side suspension is folding up due to the speed & G forces of the film sequence.
This is the last picture known of Vin #558 after being picked-up by the WB tow truck & then sent to the junkyard afterwards.
The latest sequence of events is that WB offered mechanic Max Balchawsky the 2 samples for his services & to get the GT's off the WB books. Max fixed one up & sent the other to the junkyard c. 1968 due to lack of room in his garage.
The previous pic on this thread shows something that appears to look like the x GT 390 in a US prob S.Calif backyard in a trailer. Perhaps on its way to Baja Calif, Mexico c. 2014-2015 or so. Vin #558 was found in that area c. 2016 & now is in the process of a serious restoration by the new owners. No word yet about the other '68 390 owner Vin #559 or the whereabouts of this elusive sample through the years!! 2 B Cont......

With great surprised I was able to read in my local newspaper OWH the latest news about Vin #559, the long time hidden '68 Mustang in the Kentucky/TN area.
It was on display as you prob know at the North American Int Car show next to the 2019 Bullitt GT! It finally emerged deep fm the Barn!!
Anyone else knows about the restoration status of Vin # 558, near St Diego area??

Any news about the status of the poss 2nd Bullitt MTG found in Mexico VIN#558 a few yrs ago?? Any new photos??? It is now on this side of the Border near Mexicaly, Mexico! Tks for the time & attention
