GTP ticking/ Take a guess!
Well, this isnt my mustang, but my GTP, just had the trans replaced yesterday and hoped it would take care of the ticking, but the trans guys says its not the trans. Its ticking from the oil pan on the left side by the trans( opp side of oil pump) sounds, a light metal to metal ticking that is on the bottom end and changes w/ rpm and goes away with load. the noise also goes away when shifter is inbetween P and R. i SWEAR it is the trans.. but hey, im not the tranny guy what do u think it is??

RE: GTP ticking/ Take a guess!
Thats an easy one. Take it to your local Ford Dealer. Tell the nearest "Lot-Lizard" you have a Pontiac and you want to trade it for a Mustang GT. Problem solved.
Now, aren't you glad you became a member of this site?!?! Sometimes the truth is a little painful, but remember: ADVERSITY BUILDS CHARACTER!!!
Those of us at Mustang Forums are always here to help. Good Luck!!!

RE: GTP ticking/ Take a guess!
my friend just had his gtp put in the shop for sputtering and lack of power. all your bolt ons plus power pipe, small pulley, header up front and roller rockers. 3 burnt valves and 3 chipped pistons. $5k to fix. trade it in while you still have the chance!

RE: GTP ticking/ Take a guess!
My buddies trans went out in his GTP, lucky it was under warrenty. He is looking to sell the car now, as the trans is going out again. Seems to be the weak spot in the car.
It sounds like something that is rotating is hitting something that is stationary, like a piece of metal hitting a fanblade. I would be headed to a GM dealer to have em check it out.
