RE: Japanese Mustang review
he is a pansy for not driving a manual, of course he couldnt handle all of that on demand torque a v8 puts out. im sure he would have been way over himself if it was a manual he is so used to those over sized turbo 4cyl's has to wait till 5 grand for the torque to kick in.

Different strokes...
Hello everyone. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to view the video. However, I would like to share some insight on this particular thread. Roughly 2000 Mustangs a year were exported to Japan by Ford between 1994-2004. All were equipped with an automatic, except for the Cobra models.
If the guy in the video was ragging on the Mustang, he was obviously biased. There is a unique subculture in Japan that is fanatical about American cars. Like here, some are die hard Chevy fans and others are Ford or Mopar fans.
As for performance, the American cars hold their own over there. Groups like FEDRA (Far East Drag Racing Association) and club racing (like SCCA here) regularly have Mustangs, Corvettes, and Camaros standing on the pedestal. What was the video host comparing the Mustang to? Did he compare a stock GT's handling to a Skyline GT-R? The GT-R has all wheel drive, independent suspension, and costs three times more than a Mustang.
I imported my Japanese-spec Mustang when I returned home from Japan. On the streets of Tokyo and Yokohama, I smoked Skylines redlight to redlight. On the highway, their turbos just kept pulling and I had a hard time keeping up.
Want to see the Mustang highlighted for it's abilities instead of trashed for it's shortcomings? Go to www.msn.co.jp and search for "Daytona USA", "Ame-shu", or "A-Cars Magazine". These three magazines are distributed throughout Japan and specialize in American cars over there.

Actually... I have recently posted my Mustang for sale. I was searching online to make sure that no one else has imported a Japanese Mustang since 2005. This thread was one of the responses Google suggested. After reading it, I wanted to respond. Never thought to look at how old it was though.
