Newbie Mustang Owner!!!
Hello everyone!! I recently just bought my first mustang! YAY!! Thought I'd join a forum to chat with people to learn the "Do's" & "Don't" of mustang ownership!
Alright lets get to the good part..... About 2 months ago I bought a 1988 Mustang LX hatchback. 5.0 L of course!!!! Pretty much stock..185,000 Km, 5spd, p/w, p/s, cruz control (not that I use it ) I have a X pipe and flowmasters that came with the car. Its nothing special really. I put some new tires on the back because they were bald...not good! Its been beaten on pretty harsh and i got it for cheap, so I did a tune up and new clutch and re-welded the exhaust cuz i had a major leak. Unfortunately my water pump busted on me so I had to get that replaced as well as the clutch fan. My oil was leaking from the rear seals so fixed that. Think I'm done?? No.... I need to get my Ty rod replaced as well as the wheels aligned. Heres the sad part...Apparently my 2nd cyclinder is leaking oil...bad news. So shes bogging down and backfiring lots. For now I keep replacing the spark plug, but I can't do that forever. Is it worth fixing? Or a rebuild? Or should I just get a new engine?? Even worse...Sell it!!!! Any suggestions????

RE: Newbie Mustang Owner!!!
welcome to the forums. I would look to sell it and then try to buy a better condition 5.0 or a used 99-04. Seems like you have some problems there, but i'm not a car genius so dont take my word on it. Someone with some car smarts will help you out quickly enough, people are smart up on this board lol. Anyways have fun

Welcome! If you like the car itself, then an engine rebuild would be the easiest/best thing. If you don't have the time/place to do it, then having a replacement 5.0 installed would be better. Any car that you like is worth fixing.

welcome. definitely fix it. if youre gonna get a rebuilt/remanufactured engine, just buy a crate motor from FRPP or get a longblock from CHP or DSS....cuz, it seems like youre power hungry(like the rest of us here), so, good luck
