Plan on buying a 5.0 and droppin' in crate motor
Well sometime in the near future I plan on buying a 5.0 mustang and stickin' a 3500.00 crate 302 in it... I have about 8000.00 to spend. Yes, I am a newb to mustang specific questions, please help...
1.Will my budget cover my it?
2.Worth it?
3.Reliable?
4.Additional details (parts, tuning, etc.)
5.Other options and oppinions welcome...

1. depends on how much you can get the 5.0 stang for
2. most definitely
3. Depends on how well you do upkeep on the rest of the car, such as the drivetrain
4. You might need mounts, ecu, transmission
5. Go for it when you can do it.

Well the whole reason I want a crate is so the engine will be brand new... I was also thinkin' to a brand new tranny as well and just buyin' a fox body... I have heard of the 331 option before but isn't that just rebuildin' the existing block? And it doesn't make more power than the crate motor I am researchin does it? 340 Hp, 300 tq, gt40 heads, sorry I forgot the exact name...

Yeah I kinda assumed 331 would be more... I think I'll be perfectly happy the crate motor I'm lookin at. I mean the fastest car I have ever driven extensively is 170 Hp integra so I think I'll be pretty happy with a 340 Hp Mustang. One complaint I have gathered about Mustangs is there fade of powerband, I mean low end is awesome but as soon as you go above three grand the power curve feels like it drops off steeply, does anyone have any experience with my crate motor?
