cold weather
I live in the Northwest where it's a bit cold in summer (compared to other states), seldom snows on winter and frequent rain. How bad is a Mustang GT in cold weather/climate? Does the traction control really helps the car?

my boyfriend lives in colorado and had a 2000 gt. he drove it thru the blizzards with some trouble (providing its a car) but he still got down miles of gravel roads with giant snow drifts. im sure he spun the tires and stuff but he never used his traction control. hope this helps!

First off, welcome! I drove mine through last year's Illinois winter and lived to tell the tale, but there is no way in H#LL I'm doing that again! There were a couple of times that I had NO BUSINESS out in a blizzard at 2 in the morning, when even the snow plows had given up. But you know what, I never got stuck. The traction control is nice, but having grown up without it, it isn't alwasy a good thing. When you expect the car to power slide or whatever and that TCS kicks in, all it does is disable the fuel input, so you get a weird pulsation in the gas pedal. I also put 400# of sand bags in my trunk, which kinda evened out the odds a little bit. You'll do fine, I'm sure! I've just done too many mods this year to take the chance, so I'm gonna get an old Bronco for the winter. Good Luck!!!

Play of the Day
I've found the traction control is useful when it's raining, but if you've driven in snow at all, it's more of a hinderance than any help at all. I just switch mine off when there is snow or ice on the ground. Plus, I've found I'm more "in tune" with my car and the road when it's off, kinda like using a radar detector versus your 5 senses...no false sense of security.
