Default Buying Advice

Hey Everyone, I'm new to the forum~!~ Right now, I dont not own a mustang, however, it has been my dream car since before i could drive. I am looking to buy one. I did find this 2002 GT Convertible. It only has 4,208 miles. For anyone that knows a little bit more on prices and stuff tell me what you think about it. The asking price is $19,995 right now. Its gorgeous and i love it! Also, I am paying for the car myself, however my parents are having alot to say in my decision in the purchase. They are against the mustang with it being Rear wheel drive, but i am old enough to make my own decisions so yea. But my point being if anyone can give me any advice on how to make the Stang cooperate more in the snow it's greatly appreciated thanks

Why go 2002 when there is a huge aftermarket full of performance enhancing bolt-on stuff for an older model 5.0 - the engine is bullet proof and they are just a few thousand dollars - put another $5,000 in paint and bolt-on engine boost and you'd have a Viper-killer supercar. You save $12,000 and have a faster car!

I'm looking at a 1992 Cobra 5.0 that is tricked out... selling on EBAY and it's selling for $3,000. It has just 147,000 miles, Cobra engine, cold air intake, new manual tranny and performance ZE502 Falcon Ziex tires.

Check it out at:

Check out www.edmunds.com and look into true market values on their site. Seem to be pretty close. Ford has a ton of 03's left on the lot's so it may be worth looking into a new one too. You may even be able to get into a 99 cobra for less than the GT is going for. If you go with a convertible you will be a little slower in the 1/4, but there's nothing like a vert in beautiful weather.

As far as snow... Mustangs don't like snow! Relitive light weight, fat tires, and mucho torque make for lots of slippin' and sliddin'. Last winter was my first with my 2002 GT and I had a bitch of a time in the first significant snow. The traction control just kept me from moving at all. Finally had to shut it off and manage the power to the ground myself by feathering the clutch. But the biggest lesson I learned is to put weight over the rear wheels. I loaded 3 - 70 lb. (210 lbs. total) sand bags in the trunk whenever it snowed (it snowed a lot last winter!). Squats a bit, and you can feel the weight in the tail, but I had no serious problems with traction after that.
