Hey kids,

I just sold my bike, and I'm going to buy a Mustang over the next couple of weeks

I used to own a '95 GT convertible 5 speed. It had light mods, Holley intake, MSD ignition, BBK stainless shorty headers, and MAC full cat exhaust. Green with a white top, cloth interior. My favorite car of all time. Sounded badass, and ran like a scalded dog.

My conundrum is this. I can find TONS of good deals on 4.6 modulars in the 96 to 98 range, but I'm reticent to give up the difference in torque and power from the 5.0 until they upped performance in the '99 model.

How much will I have to invest in a 96-98 model to get the same kind of punch I'm used to in a 5.0?

I'm a convertible guy, so no matter what year I get, it'll be drop-top.

Thanks for any advice and for this incredible forum.

Kong

I love the way all the people just completely ignore his question with a generic "welcome to mustangforums.com!!!".

I wouldn't advise a non-5.0 SN95, the 4.6l's from 96-98 are pretty slow and take a bit of work to make run. I would suggest going for a 95 5.0, or at least a 99+ 4.6l.

Thanks for reading the question. I've been researching, and most people think the same thing. '95 5.0 SN95 or post '99 4.6.

I'm sure I'll post pics when I finally find one I like.

Thanks again.
