I recently purchasssed a 89 mustang gt, previous owner did some work to the car. Bored out the engine.Rolllcage due to convertible. Racing seats with 5 point harnesses. Shorty headers. Since i purchased I rplaced clutch cable, battery, fuel filter, and 3rd generation alternator. Has alpine head unit 2 12" punch subs, and 2 amplifiers one for the subs and one for the door speakers. My problem is sometimes, usuallly,in 2nd gear car backfires loud like gun going off, gauges go haywire and sometimes stalls.Seems to happen more when stereo is on. At stoplight rpms at 1000 and sometimes go down so I have to give it gas so it doesn't stall. Anyone know what the problem is? do I need a new fuel pump, oxygen sensor, or MAF. Car also has cold air intake. Can someone please help?
