Hey fella's just thought id give a little self introduction and tell the story behind my project. My names Bill and i live in missoula montana. My mom's very first car was a 69 fast back with a 6cyl and a three speed which she bought slightly used right before she got her drivers licese. about ten years ago she decided to part with it and regreted it from day one. About a year and a half ago, i ran into the guy that had bought it from her and pooled funds between myself, mysister and my grandmother and bought the car back for her. I spent the better part of the winter geting the car into good, safe running condition, similar to how it was when she sold it ten years ago. After a lot of sleepless nights toward the end we presented it to her in june for her 50th birthday. Needless to say she was in tears and absolutly thrilled. Well now that she has it back in her possession she has talked my dad into leting her do a reto on it so that means its back to my shop for the winter to get the drive train done so it can go to the body man in the spring.
now that you have read my long boring story, the car is a 6cyl with a 3 speed, manual brakes and no power steering. That being said she would like to make it a nice enough car to drive a few days a week or on a short road trip. so im leaning toward a mild small block, probably a 302, probably an auto just so its easier for town driving, and upgrade to power steering and brakes in the process.
I'm looking for opinions on the best way to go about the engine and trany swap, not to familiar with fords. Anyone out there done the six cyl to small block swap and or the trany swap. Im open to any coments and ideas including the ones that i havent metioned since im new to the mustanng sceen but not the car scene.
Anyway thats my story and im looking forward to sharing the project with everyone out there. let me know if you can help. thanks Bill
