When I had my mustang I had one run against an 05 GTO. We were side by side the entire time. As far as gearing that's hard to say. Your 07 came stock with 3.31s. BTW, steeper gears, intake and tune should be your first 3 mods. My GTO has 3.46s but a 6 speed transmission, so the gears are fairly short. I had 4.10s in my mustang and my RPMS at at 75 MPH was about 2600 RPMs. In my GTO at 75 is about 1900.
I will be putting the stock manifolds, stock cats and less aggressive cam in. I got pulled over and a ticket for the L/Ts. So I predict if I dyno my car it will come out to 350-355 RWHP/ 330 RWTQ.
thanks guys for warm welcome

you're right man those LS motors are nasty... really liked those LS1 Trans Ams with the WS6 package but just couldn't find any. Couldnt find any clean SS camaros (up to 2002) in the few months I searched. Plenty of automatic GTO's and automatic roadster Z's. Was tempted to wait for an 05 GTO to surface
The GTO pulled way harder than the Z, didnt get to drive a stock 05-09 stang GT but my dad did and said it felt like it needed another 50 horses.

I should have your first post more closely. I didn't see that it had a Paxton on it so you should be putting down about 420-430 RWHP.

yeah at 10psi it should be roughly 450whp, looking at the many youtube dyno vids people put down 420-450whp and around 400wtq

This motor still has stock manifolds (but no cats or mufflers) so i'm weary that the internals are still stock. I need to look at the guage and if its at 10psi i'll probably want to get it tuned to 6-7, which is maybe around 380-390whp, plenty enough for me. Even with TCS on and 285's rear, WOT in second gear is rediculous.

I would bet 99% those internals are stock....there would be no reason to run such low boost on a built motor.

Theres really no point to drop the boost...I would just go a tuner and say I drive this everday, make the tune safe. They will pull some timing and make sure the AF is rich and you will be fine.

With a bad tune you will be just as likely to blow your motor on 7 psi as 10.

And FYI, the width of that rear tire doesnt matter much when it comes to traction. If its a cheap tire, it wont hook.

Some LCAs and GOOD tires will help a ton.

There are a few softer street tires that hook near drag radial. My kumho XS's are really good for a street tire.

Hooking with street tires is tough.

Is what i'll do is go on the highway and WOT in 4th or 5th gear around 3k rpm so that I have the time to glance at it
Do NOT do this!

If the car does have stock internals, you'll find out real soon when you bend the rods doing a WOT pull in a high gear like that. Since its an overdrive ratio, it will put major stress on the motor.

thanks for the advice....

Just now I was having some fun and man I would only go ~60% throttle in 1st and 2nd to about 4500rpm because its just too much power. And also I dont want to redline it right now until I determine the clicking sound (video is in 4.6L tech discussion)
It was funny because every time I stepped on it I would see a cop going the opposite direction and i know they heard my open exhaust... need to upgrade to a valentine 1 or whatever the best radar is for the money (i dont speed

I guess there is no way to know if there is upgraded internals unless I tore apart the motor. I think it'd mean a world of difference if I look at the boost guage when going WOT @ 3rd gear @ ~4000 rpm, and realize "oh its only making 7 lbs rather than 10+ so more than likely its a stock motor"

Today is when I find out

FWIW, Me and tons of others run 10 psi+ with no problems.

Ive been running 11 psi for a few years now and I go WOT numerous times on a daily basis.

Like i said, if the tune is safe and the A/F is staying around 11.5, you should be fine.
