I made the same switch. 535 horsepower RB25DET in a Nissan 240SX(S14) back to Mustangs. My first car was a 1980 Mustang, second car was a 1989 Mustang GT Saleen clone.

Feels good to be back. I think I am done cheating on Mustangs now. No more imports for me.

My 99GT sounds like that too. It sounds like an exhaust leak when there is no leak present. I have flowmaster 44's on it (Came with the car, I hate them).

My evolution didnt have that much hp if your talking about wheel hp, 460 Mustang Dyno AWHP 380 lb ft on 91 oct with a FP Black turbo, about 500-515 AWHP and on a mustang Dyno, anything below 3800-4000 and it felt like a stock Civic Si, but above that it pulled like a freight train, just didnt like the on/off type of power, more of a highway type of car, I live in Friant Ca, just above Fresno, and that area is hilly, so the evolution was a handfull for spirited driving and the GT35 sized turbo was too big for the type of area i live in.

The mustang on the other hand, even mostly stock is much more fun in the twisties, more like how the evolution was with the stock turbo and a few bolt ons before I went crazy on the mods, I was making 303 AWHP with a cat delete, cat back, cai and tune, everything aft of where the cat had been, was stock minus the CAI, Im guessing my Mustang is at 280 rwhp to 290 rwhp but with more tq than my Evolution had with the few bolt ons when i first begun modding her, the power feels the same.

Now with the V8 I have, I can get a Whipple blower which is local to me, about 30 min away and have monster low end, with some good highend, something i couldn't get with the 2.0L Evolution engine.

The RB25 is basically Japanese Muscle and is definitely similiar to a modular V8 in power delivery if set up right, you 240 sounded like it was a beast.

It felt like a glass cannon. I was really afraid to open it up any more than 5 miles from my garage for fear of breaking a part that takes weeks to get from Japan. Much happier now that i am back into a Mustang. Broken part is a trip to the auto parts store locally.

AWD power is certainly a different beast. While I respect all (proper)cars for their grace, elegance and beauty, my heart is in the Mustang.

I am sure that once you have the Mustang built to where you want it, you will be just as taken with the vehicle as I am with mine. Congrats again on getting into the Domestic Scene with one of the best and most known American Muscle cars in history.
