Default The Quietest Mustang Ever

I recently purchased a 2006 v6 4.0L 5 speed manual. The previous owner put a bbk cold air intake and a dual exhaust with pypes street pros. The pypes droned so bad that I replaced them with stock gt mufflers. I would like to quiet them down further because at 2000 rpm they still seem too loud to me. I spoke to a tech at Walker about adding a Dynomax 24236 mid muffler in tandem with the stock mufflers and he said that I wouldn't notice any sound reduction even though they are rated at 4dBa sound reduction level. Has anyone added a mid muffler to the gt stock mufflers and gotten a sound level reduction? If so, which model did you use? I would consider quieter mufflers as well, but now since I have a dual exhaust, haven't found any.

Welcome. Did the last owner take off the cats? That could be why it is so loud.

If its too loud you're too old! I have never heard of somebody saying GT mufflers were too loud.

No. The cats are still there. Do you think a MAC pro chamber will quiet it down? I really only have issues when I am highway cruising. Thanks

If you want quiet, you will want to go back with factory stock or OEM style replacement. Resonators, mufflers the whole shebang. The CAI needs to come off too.

You won't get factory style quiet with performance mufflers. That isn't what they do.

Looks for some factory takeoffs here on the board when someone upgrades, I am sure the price will be reasonable.

This post is a little late haha, I just got rid of my whole factory system (threw it in the garbage) because I just upgraded to true-duals. I also have an 06 5-speed 4.0. Bad timing on this one haha.

I have the factory stock gt mufflers. I was wondering if you had any recommendations for a mid-muffler that might get me even quieter than stock? Someone recommended the MAC pro chamber. Any thoughts?,

Lol huh? The stock v6 is too loud for you? Are you super sensitive to noise? I'm trying to wrap my head around this.
