First Mustang
Hello all! Just joined the forums, first Mustang forum I have joined and after looking around I gotta say "I like what I see!". It appears I will be busy for hours or days reading a wealth of information in here!
I just picked up my very first Mustang! A 2013 Mustang GT, black. It's a base model GT with an auto transmission, Ya I know what most of you are thinking but let me explain...
I live in Germany so getting a Mustang is no easy task. Impossible? No but certainly no walk in the park. I happened to drive by a Ford dealership in Karlsruhe and there she is! The car of my dreams! I pull in to just look at her and a salesman wanders out after a few minutes and tells me she's for sale. Though it sits on the lot it isn't "officially" in Germany yet, meaning it hasn't cleared customs and that won't happen until someone buys it. Long story short I bought it!! After all fees, taxes, and what not I ended up paying about 27,000 Euros (35K dollars). I know that's high but like I said taxes are a bitch here 19% sales tax and 10% import tax. I wouldn't have chosen the auto trans if given the choice but I have to admit I'm pretty happy with it. I've read a lot on it and they seem to be reliable. I get tons of people taking pics of the car everywhere I go and just as many asking me if they can sit in the car and "check it out". Very few here in Germany so for the moment it's kind of cool to have a car that no one has. Plus it's a Stang! Loving it!
Driving on the autobahn is a blast with it!! Though I wish it had a higher top speed, this one seems to be limited to 147mph and I've been passed by VW panel vans at that speed I think I can "tune out" the limiter but haven't seriously looked into it yet. Anyway, just wanted to say hello to everyone in here.
