UltArc- I make Mustangs Fuel Efficient (50 MPG)
#12
I'm sorry, but organizing all of my work over two years across two forums into a new thread for here isn't a huge priority. Before I get to that I will do it for the site, so visitors have a better idea how they can build it.
I don't mean to post links intentionally, but it beats the heck out of pulling all of these images. Here is the first underbody build: http://ecomodder.com/forum/showthrea...tml#post403247
Drive shaft and underbody rebuild: http://ecomodder.com/forum/showthrea...tml#post415508
Aluminum underbody that is being replaced by polycarbonate:http://ecomodder.com/forum/showthrea...tml#post429856
Here's my lifetime fuel log: http://ecomodder.com/forum/em-fuel-l...vehicleid=6431
Except for a few, most for the past year are so are E0, which is why it's $4.30+ a gallon.
Original underbody build: http://www.mustangevolution.com/foru...2/#post1467748
Airdam from way back when: http://www.mustangevolution.com/foru...9/#post1350607
Antenna delete (not that it's the most influential part):http://www.mustangevolution.com/forum/f356/t323911/
Upper grille block: http://www.mustangevolution.com/forum/f356/t316182/
Here is the site build log and tracker for fuel. Last it was updated was March, and it needs a lot of work: http://www.aerostang.com/building-the-aerostang

Wind tunnels have shown the dirt doesn't influence the air.
Sarcasm, guess you did not pick up on that.
Since you don't believe me (or know much about how vehicles move through the air, or the influence of modifications like this), here is the awards list. Going to the GreenGrandPrix.com, and clicking awards, or doing a Google search would show you, but I'll make it extra easy.

It's actually not that impressive, personally. After Ford pulled 47 mpg out of a Mustang, with a series of professional drivers on a closed road course with an automatic (low RR tires, and better gearing), it isn't too farfetched. We'll be there next year with more work done aiming to break 50.
This past year we made some mistakes letting the car idle too much, and WOT 0-~40. We need to cut out more fun if we want to get serious about our record.
