Default Foxbody Mustang won't start

So my car won't start. I've dealt with it for about a month now, but now it's just ridiculous. When I turn the key on the radio and a/c turns on right, so I know the battery cables are attached. When I turn the key on though, the car makes no noise, no clicking no starting. I've checked the battery cables, the starter solenoid, the distributer wires and caps, the wire to the starter and the wires going to the key switch. I replaced the key switch a few months ago so I know it's ok. Any help would be nice, just as long as you have mechanical experience. I don't need somebody telling me that it's because I need more blinker fluid in my turn signal.

Have you checked your blinker fluid???

J/K

So you have checked the wire going to the solenoid? The skinny one that activates the solenoid. It should get 12v when key is turned to start.

Have you verified that the solenoid will engage by jumping 12v from the battery to the ignition signal post?

Is your car a manual or auto trans?

Check the neutral safty switch (auto ) or the clutch interlock switch ( manual )...

Thanks Stang BB. The car is an auto 5.0 but I did check the wire going to the solenoid. I have noticed that, since I changed my gauge faces, the voltage constantly sits at 9 or 10 volts. I have fully charged the battery and have tried jump starts before, nothing works. Thanks again

Another problem I forgot about was the wires plugged into the bottom of the key switch...a while back I finished installing my Slp loudmouths, and tried taking it for a drive to test the sound. When I turned the key, nothing happened and I noticed something fell in my lap and the radio and a/c turned off. The plug from the bottom of the ignition fell out, but it was attached to another part, it had grease on it and was something I had never seen before. I instantly snapped it back on and started the car. But it was messed up before that...

Welcome to the forum.

What happens when you jump the starter solenoid, does the motor crank or still nothing?

You could also start a new thread in the fox/sn tech section, you'll get more response's. This one is for new member's introducing themselves.

Good luck
