That is nothing major at all. There's a TSB for that. The vent tube on the rear axle may leak more than normal. That's an easy fix under warranty. The vent tube is supposed to leak or vent slightly, but if it's on the ground, it may need replaced. Nothing major. I had it replaced on my '13 5.0, under warranty.

What's a TSB?

The whole underside of the pumpkin was wet. I knew it was an easy warranty fix, but when I'm taking out a 5 year loan on a vehicle, the last thing I want is to go get work done and deal with a headache.

Also, this dealership is super shady. I don't recommend Autonation to anyone. They were prepared to give delivery of this car to me without telling me about the leak. It even went through their 75 point mechanics inspection. After inspecting the car inside and out for a good 30 minutes I went inside and told the salesman the deal was off. He acted like he didn't even car because he was preoccupied with another customer.

After I left, they called me and said there was confusion. The car was ready to be "seen" but not ready to be bought. The salesman clearly told me the car was ready to be bought. He then said they knew about the pumpkin leak and were scheduling the repair. I told him he was a liar.

I called the Ford dealership and asked if this leak was a common problem. The service advisor said no. He said that leak should raise some red flags.

Another salesman called me late yesterday and told me they are sending the Mustang to Ford for the repair. Should I still consider the deal? Or do I have more room for negotiation?

Also, the axle said 3.73. Are those stock gears now? And does anyone think the leaking axle is do to the previous owner being rough with the car?

TSB is technical service bulletin. It's not a recall, but something to look out for. Leaking from the vent tube is a common issue with early '13 build cars, with the vent tube on the left side of the axle. If you look under the rear axle, you should see a tube sticking up from the axle shaft. That is known to leak. The pumpkin is another story. That's not common, but probably an easy fix. If the dealer is shady, don't buy from them. There's other places. Just gotta be patient and look. 3.73's are standard on the track pack cars. There will be a tag on the pumpkin or axle with the standard gear for that car. 3.31 is standard. 3.55 and 3.73 are optional.

Sounds like a very shady dealer. RUN. AWAY! You'll find the right Mustang for you - don't settle and end up with a bad deal.

In Texas you pay tax on the difference between your trade and the new vehicle.
