2000 ford mustang

I bought the car and it worked perfectly the whole day.How ever the second day it wouldn't start, i changed the spark plugs and wires and also the oil, it would turn over and cough from time to time. I noticed 2/4 of the catalytic converters where blocked so i took the exhaust system off entirely. The car turns over and starts 1 out of 5 times but it doesn't idle. When running, it backfires frequently and when put in drive it almost dies ( while giving it gas ). I plugged in a scanner and no codes appear. ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!

I'd try another shot at the codes with a different reader, if it's running that bad, the computer has to see something wrong. Also, you'll get more responses if you post these type of questions in the Tech section. Good luck

Are you sure you have the wires put back in the correct order? You could have two wires out of order and that could cause your issue.
