My guess is that the alternator went out. Your car was running on battery power until it finally went dead. With no alternator to charge it that's why it won't start now.

Do you have a dc volt meter? With the car running check the volts on the battery. If the alternator is good it should read 14-16vdc.

It also could be your battery is bad and the load is too much for your alternator to keep the car running and try to charge the battery at the same time.

X2 on the battery. How long since you put in a new battery?

Could be a sticking float in the carb... you can try running some fuel system cleaner through it, but might need a rebuild/clean
