New (Used) 2011 Convertible
Hi Folks,
I just bought my antidote from minivan-dom, a Silver 2011 Mustang GT Convertible, manual transmission, Brembo brake package and red leather interior with cashmere accents. It has mufflers that were take-offs from a GT500 but is otherwise stock. I purchased it from a seller in Southern California, he had kept it covered in his garage. The paint, top and interior are all like new. My first trip was to drive it home, up the California coast :-)
This is my second Mustang 5.0 Convertible, the first was a white '89 that I drove before I had kids.
I need to replace a leaking rear pinion seal, and will do tires and shocks soon. I am leaning towards the Michelin Pilot Super Sports, and am having trouble deciding between Koni Sport and Bilstein HD for the shocks. I don't plan on lowering the car, and want to tighten up the ride without loosening any of my fillings. I think the Koni's might be too firm, even on the softest setting. Any first hand experience would be welcome.
I am also considering adding a 4 point roll bar. I did this myself on the '89, but I would like a little cleaner installation on this car. If any of you have done this in a similar car, I would be interested in hearing your experiences. I would like to keep the back seat. Any recommendations for installers in the San Francisco South Bay would be welcome.
Cheers,
Drew

Hello and welcome!
Consider the Cooper RS3 S's for your ride. They are stock on the Roush cars.
Also consider Koni STR.T's instead of sports. They will definitely firm up the ride but will be softer (and cheaper) than the Sports or the Bilsteins.

Thanks, and is this my car?
Hi Folks,
Thanks for the responses. I guess I was a little impatient and went with my original plan, Michelins and Bilsteins. At the recommendation of my shop (Custom Alignment in Mountain View, CA) I also added Maximum Motorsports caster/camber plates. A nice improvement overall. I also got a leaking pinion seal replaced.
Also, interestingly enough, I think I found my car in an online photo shoot:

My car was built in February, 2010, and the photoshoot was in March, 2010. It was registered in the Ford Motor pool in November, 2010. The colors are a bit unusual and match exactly. It also has manual transmission, no rear wing, and Brembo brakes. The stereo and climate control match too. The car in the photos has a manufacturers plate, and there is a sticker in the window with the number "213" which is the last 3 digits of my VIN. Not proof, I know, but pretty strong evidence.
Cheers,
Drew
