Default Melted coil

I have an 87 5.0 I just put a screamindeamon coil in. I also put in new fire wires, dist, and rotor. I pulled into a parking lot today and the engine just cut out. I thought it was the module(been there before) but noticed smoke comming from under the hood. The coil was smoking and melted. Strange right? I put it in last fall. Anyone have any ideas?

the coil is defective, and shorted internally. replace it with a stock unit, cheaper and will perform exactly the same.
