Older V8 or Newer V6???
I've been shopping around for what will be a toy/track car and am really torn. After deliberation, I KNOW I want a pre-owned Mustang, but given my price point, I'm torn on two options...
Price Point: $13k-$15k
Option 1 - 2005-2010 Mustang GT with 300-ish HP
Option 2 - 2011-2014 Mustang V6 with 300-ish HP
Both are the same price, but of course the newer V6's are EVERYWHERE for sale.
I'd love some feedback on why I would choose either option. Again, this is just a toy to be tracked and eventually caged and raced.

Thanks for the recommendation. I'd love to go this route, but honestly, I see nothing on the market for less than $17-$19K. Just not in my price range.

Straight line or circle racing? I'd vote for a stick shift V6 with the lighter weight but only if curves are involved. I think the V6 with the stick is at a disadvantage racing the 2010 V8 in a straight line using auto transmissions.

Absolutely a stick shift, as it'll be for road racing. It's interesting you mentioning the V6 being lighter. Everything I have has the newer V6 curb weight 50-100lbs heavier. Am I missing something?

Yes, it came with the 3.31 gear. I'll probably move to a 3.73 since it will be mostly track use only.
Any ideas where I'd find a good deal on the Brembo brake upgrade? That and the Boss 302 Handling package are first on my list.
