Default Need some help

Hello, I need some help! I own a 65 mustang 289 v8 4 bbl that refuses to start. I didn't drive the car for 8 months due to my delpoyment and now it just doesn't start. I replaced the fuel pump change the battery and even removed the old gas I noticed a wire that had wondered off from its location. I attached a picture of the wire. If any has any advise please send it my way.

Jake

check for spark at the plugs, check to see if there is fuel at the carb, it has to be a lack of 1 of the 2

Looks like a spade connector that might go to the electric choke. It's a rather large gauge wire for that though. I'd does look like your choke is missing a wire if I'm seeing that tab right. Does it reach the choke ?

Even then, your motor should still run, or at least try to start. Is it not even firing at all ?

Welcome to the forum, but this thread might get moved to the Tech Section.

Good luck

Either it's not getting spark or not getting fuel.

Pull a plug out and see if it's wet with gas or dry.

Yes I am focused on that wire...their should be no reason for a disconnected wire. I changed the plugs and checked the fuel.

but.........did you check spark at the plugs, or to see if the carb is actually getting fuel, for all you know that wire has been disconnected for the last 10 years and was unnoticed. diagnosis is a science, assuming that that wire is the issue without determining what the actual cause for the no start is is a waste of time. you ask for help.......this is it.
