New member and already asking for help
Hi guys. I'm a brand new member and I have a problem I would like some help with, if possible.
I've pretty much been a Corvette guy...with a brief love affair with a '67 Skylark mixed in...all my adult life. I've owned several and currently have a 2000 coupe.
I have been wanting to try out a vintage mustang for quite a while. I finally am ready to take the plunge. I have found one that interests me but it's on CRAIGSLIST and most people are aware of all the possible issues with that.
Some info on the car....it's a 1966 coupe, V6, manual tranny with supposedly around 50k miles. I have not seen the car in person but in the pictures it looks to be in very nice condition. The seller is asking just over $6k.
Through correspondence with the seller I am fairly sure that it is an actual vehicle and not a complete scam...did I mention it was on Craigslist?....but it still seems too good to be true.
The owner says they will put the car through their home state inspection process...the car is located across the state line about 2hours from me...and I plan to see it in person before purchasing.
The seller just seems very accommodating and the price seems very low.
My questions are:
Is this pricing in line with the market?
How likely is it that the owner is trying to unload a rust bucket/lemon/clunker?
What questions should I ask the seller?
What are some common problem areas that I should look for when I see the car in person?
Any and all input will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I think you are correct...straight 6, not V6.
Do you think the price is too good to be true? Does it seem out of line with the market value to you? My research would indicate that this buyer is leaving a couple grand on the table. Not many people do that out of the kindness of their heart.

Well that's the best thing about Craigslist, once in a while you do find a great deal. I've bought all my cars off Craigslist and will continue to do so. Just give the car a thorough check. You'll get a feeling if someone or something isn't right. Good luck
