Well, I personly like chrome 18" Cobra R Wheels. 9.5 front and 10.5 rear. That's what I'm getting in a couple weeks. Go check them out at the tire rack .com

How was the consumerreport.org car prices compared to edmunds.com or carsdirct.com? Every site seems to be a little different. I may check out consumer reports. I'm getting ready to make a purchase any day now and I think I have the costs down. However you never know when you are getting inaccurate informatian from somesites. Some of the quotes I'm getting online are about 5k under MSRP (include the 3k rebate). I'm really close to making a deal. Then comes the negotiating on my trade in. It's all good tho.I be riding in style real soon.

Hotrod, I wanna see some pics when you get yours. I was saving up to get tires and rims but got into 2 fender benders (all within a month of getting my stang). Can you believe it.. the Front and the back. Well, gonna fix that first...

Ravonaf, I have the papers here... I havn't been to edmunds or carsdirect, but with consumer, it outlines the wholesale price for a deluxe, premium, GT deluxe, GT premium, and Cobra SVT.

Besides listings the wholesale price, it also lists what the dealership paid for it, and what they're selling it for.

If you had gotten it back in Dec, it would have been a 4k rebate. Are you looking at just a V6 or GT? Well, mine is a convertible, so I will give you the numbers for what it shows for a convertible. And this is just the basic package. If you want interior design, pony package, etc, it'll tell you how much it really costs and how much the dealership is charging for it.

PremiumV6: wholesale $19,670Dealer invoice $20,451 MSRP $22,665

PrmiumGT: wholesale $22,432 Dealer invoice $23,308 MSRP $25,840

Oh yeah, don't tell them about your trade in until you're about to sign the papers..

Thanks for the info. I didn't know about the 4k rebate in december. Oh well. They do have a 3k rebate now so I better get it before it drops again. I'm looking at a GT. I just ran the number you gave me up and it's pretty close to a quote I got over the weekend. I'm waiting for a possible hook up from a friend. If that falls through (hopefully I'll know by tommarow) I will go with the offer. After adding together the invoice of everything and subtracting the holdback and the rebate the dealer is making about 5% over wholesale. I can deal with that. As long as they don't stick me with a bunch of bogus fees (dealer prep, ad fees, floorplan fees, etc)

oh hey, just realize you are the original author.. good luck on getting your new convertible. I had my old car for 10 years since high school and couldn't have been happier when the dealership took it from me. Now, I just LOVE MY NEW STANG!!

Yes, if you can get it roughly about 5% above wholesale, that is Excellent. You know, a lot of the dealerships still have their 03's and probally will give you next to nothing just to get it off their lots, But (?) would they still give you the 4k rebate instead? hhmmnn...

and yes, you have to get the interior upgrade. it just looks so much nicer.. plus the pony package... and the mach460. At least those 3.

btw, do you know how much you'd be paying for insurance? My rate is $188 but with a 30% discount (alarm, defensive driving, etc), I'm paying $132. but my rates might go up since I got into a stupid fender bender.
<edited><editID>pinknyellowflow</editID><editDate>38013.9824305556</editDate></edited>

My insurance for the GT convertable will go up $165 every six months. I can handle that. Considering what my current vehicle is that is great. My hook up fell through so I'm heading out tonight to possibly make a purchase.

I'm going to take the best quote I got and shop it around. I'm lucky enough to have 4 dealerships that are all relatively close together. I'm pretty happy with the quote I got. I'm sure the real dealing will come with the trade in. Tade in value is about $1500. I would take $1000. However it's a 94 with 88000 miles on it and it needs some work. The quote I got has the interior upgrade, 460 mach, ABS, the dust cover and its red. The only thing it doesnt have that I may want is leather. I'm not sure about the 460 mach. Would it be cheaper to save the $490 retail and have one installed myself?

T_Stang

Invoice on that car is $19,503. That's a basic GT deluxe with nothing else on it but what comes standard. This is also including the 3k rebate. If you were to buy the car at that cost the dealer would still make about $700 to $800. I would consider that a very very good deal. Below that price would be great. Slightly above that price ($100-$200) is still very good. I just got a quote today for a GT primium vert thats only $85 dollars above invoice. It is black though and I'm not sure on the color. I am however going to take that price to other dealers this evening and see if they can beat or match it. If they can, maybe I'll get another color. Go to carsdirect, edmunds, or consumerreports and print out that price to take with you to the dealer if you go. Get a quote and hit the next dealer.
