Oh Nick, I picked up a Bushnell 1500 Tournament Edition rangefinder. I know you use the GPS though. Got it brand new for $260 after $70 cash back on ebay. Obviously getting the yardage to the pin is good, but I also like being able to laser trees and bunkers on courses I don't play often to have an idea on what to hit off the tee.
Both types of units have their pro and cons, big negative about the GPS for me was the subscription fee.
Very True, but $30/year ain't gonna kill me. There are brands that have courses pre-loaded and do not require a yearly fee.

Yeah, I was looking at those too. Right now the GPS industry for golf is in its early stages. Can't go wrong with something like a Skycaddie, but those lesser brands I'm not so sure on their staying power. What there needs to be is a universal database you can draw from no matter what system you've got.
