Paul, the snap style is fine. What you want is the style of tonneau that has an aluminum frame that is held on to the top of the bed with clamps. The cover snaps onto the frame. No damage to the truck and easily removeable.

I know on my friend's father's truck the snap style is a big pain to close when its cold.
I definately want one with a frame. No '80's style riviting to the bed for me.

Paul. When I had a Silverado I had a Sportmaster tonneau with snaps, but it had a hinge. In order to get into the bed, you put the tailgate down, moved a lever and the back 3/4 of the tonneau was on a hinged frame with gas struts. The top never unsnapped unless you were taking off the entire cover. I liked it. May be something to look into, if they still make it.
