Well after having 3 sets of bad tail lights on the Taurus where the Chrome would peel off, I finally said enough and asked them to put on the SEL lights (no Chrome). Best decision ever! Not only do I never have to worry about it again, but it looks amazing! I can't understand why Ford ever put those cheap lights on the SHO. I realize now how cheesy they looked. Unfortunately the warranty wouldn't cover switching them out so it was $500 but they didn't charge me for labor. I would have never gotten a set that wouldn't peel despite the fact they kept trying to tell me the quality would be better going forward. I'm very happy.

Yeow, pretty good size pill to swallow, but If you're happy that's all that matters!

Hope all is well. Hope to see everyone again when this crap melts and it gets warmer out.

Yes, it is sad. The dealers know they have this problem and they lie to you saying the vendor has improved the product. I fell for it once. I actually had them replaced 2 times. The first time thinking maybe I just got a bad set. The 2nd time was the lies and then the 3rd time, more lies. I wanted the SEL lights the 2nd time and was actually discouraged and I was going to pay out of pocket. I was again discouraged this time even with paying out of my own pocket. After I told them no, they STILL ordered the crap. I insisted and they knew I wasn't giving up. They tried to get the warranty to cover it but said it had to be like for like and they wouldn't budge. Ford should dump this vendor, they are giving them a very bad name. Its like they want to keep pushing this junk to get rid of the bad product or just hope people stop complaining. I could almost watch the chrome peel after each wash. And they put it on their highest model. Disgusting. This has been going on since 2012 and I couldn't be happier now.
