Anyone know about chipped Mustangs passing inspection in NJ?
Hey all,
My 2000 GT, which is blown and chipped, just failed inspection in NJ. It came back "unsupported" for all of the checks. I have no idea what happened, since it has passed before. The guy at the shop said that there have been changes in the inspection program, and he thinks this is why. Does anyone else know anything about this, or what in the hell I can do? Also, is it true that I can drive the car for 24 months while I try to get it repaired, as long as I keep documentation that shows that I got it inspected (tho it failed)?
Thanks for the advice!

you can get a ticket at any time for driving a rejected car. you have 30 days from the end of the inspection period to get "reinspected". basically as soon as you drive out of the inspection station you can be summoned.

If your vehicle fails inspection, you have up to one month from the last day of the month indicated on the inspection sticker to make repairs and return for re-inspection at a state inspection facility or state-licensed private inspection facility (N.J.A.C. 13:20-7.5). Vehicles overdue for inspection do not receive additional time to make necessary repairs (N.J.A.C. 13:20-43.12). Your vehicle may still be cited by law enforcement for equipment out of compliance.
your not going to get a ticket for a engine light on but for a busted tail light maybe

F*ck NJ, best advice is leave lol- Happened to me before, came back unsupported because of the oxygen sesnors. Justin at VMP tuning fixed it and I reloaded with my SCT, perhaps the chip is causing it? But it looks a tune issue... Not that you can't pay one anyway to pass and be done with it..

Had trouble today going through inspection. I posted a new thread before I found yours. Everything on mine came up "unsupported" also. (2006 GT) I did replace the battery yesterday, and the inspector said thats why, it didn't go through the re learn procedure yet. But now reading your thread, maybe its my tune. I have a JDM 93 Street tune on an SCT2 device. I might have to flash to stock and put the stock elbow and air box on, too, plus I have 4.10's I hope the stock tune doesn't pick that up and show a code, at the least my speedo will be off a little.
