I'm looking into buying one of your package deals. About how long would you say the buffing/polishing pads will last? Also, what would you recommend? Your meguiars package or the optimum. I have heard very good feedback from the former, and not much on the latter.

I have buffer pads that last over a year, some don't last as long. You will get several months out of them for sure.

I like both the Meg's and Optimum packages. You are going to get more cut with the Megs M105 than the Optimum Hyper Compound Spray. Optimum polishes are a little easier to work with, but like I said, they don't have the cut that the Meg's do.

I'm new to detailing in general. Would it be best to get a PC or just keep doing by hand? I'm scared to screw something up.

The reason the PC is so popular is that it is almost impossible to screw up your paint with it. You can be a beginner and get awesome results. You can only do so much by hand, the PC will take your paint to a completely different level.

There are tons of videos online how to correctly use the Porter Cable and how to break down polishers correctly, I always tell me customers to do this first and usually helps a lot.
