Default High blood pressure ftw!

Took my blood pressure today at work. One of the guys had a portable one in there cause he just went to the docs for high BP. He did it and came out like 155 over 85. That's considered pre-hypertension or whatever. I tried it next and to my surprise, I got 157 over 105. I thought the thing wasn't accurate so on the way home, the guy I commute with didn't believe me either. We went to the grocery store and I was right. That handheld wasn't accurate. This machine came back with 173 over 105. I'm only 24 years old and have high blood pressure!

Hah, my blood pressure is pretty much the same.

I'm trying to lower mine just by reducing stress. I don't want to take the meds my doc suggested.

It's the 2nd number that is so dangerous. It should be UNDER 90..get to the doc and have them take it. I got hypertension, and they have me on Atenelol and Lysinapril..It's nothing to just blow off. You can have a stroke..or worse.

I've had high BP for 20 years now. Been on meds the whole time. They change them every couple of years when new $hit comes down the pipe.
def go see a doc. Pressure on your vein walls causes your heart to pump harder which in turn can cause you to have an enlarged heart from being overworked.
HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE NEEDS TO BE TREATED BY A DOCTOR! DON'T JUST THINK YOU CAN LOWER IT BY REDUCING STRESS!
Taking meds is no big deal. Oh by the way I just turned 40.

Then no one should feel sorry for you when you have a stroke or living the rest of your life in a coma...

I don't have a strict diet I just need to stay away from salt. DAM! I used to love chinese food too! I just had blood work and the chlosterol (spelling doh!) was fine.
With meds comes blood work every six months to make sure that the meds aren't distroying your kidneys.

the thing with blood pressure meds is that as soon as you stop taking them, your pressure goes back up. just start doing cardio and keep checking your pressure. how much salts are you eating btw?
