Default Year?: GT40's on the Explorer

Might be gettin some cheap-o used heads for my birthday just til the beginning of winter really.

But anyhoo to keep this off topic of stangs.
What year did the GT40p Heads come stock on the Explorers?
Was it in 96?

i didnt know the heads were gt-40...i thought only the intake. thats good to know as long as you find out the years.

Not sure, but a buddy has a brand new explorer 302 in his basement with the GT40 heads and intake that he bought for $750, complete motor, just fell off the stand and broke the coils, nothing more not even cracked heads or block. I'd say about '96-'97 but don't know for sure.

Were the gt40p heads in all 302 explorers?
Cuz i think the 302 started in 96
