I find it interesting that what we are paying is roughly the same, after inflation, asit was in the late '70s and the early '20s. Not sure why that is (the 20's at least).
'20s - Great depression
'70s - Oil embargo
'00s - ????
'00s - OPEC being a bunch of bitches, and this whole war thing isn't helping but it also isn't hurting enough to do this. Also mostly hippies that won't let us drill for oil in the Gulf of Mexico where Mexico is drilling a few more miles away in non-US waters, not really hurting the environment. Plus not letting us drill in Alaska where the local economy really needs the jobs and oddly enough the extra warmth helps the environment, the Alaskan pipeline heat created one of the best ecosystems in that tundra. But no, oil evil, hippies closed minded won't do research. The Gulf of Mexico and Alaska has some of the richest oil supplies on the planet, almost eliminate middle eastern dependency, help our economy, cut gas prices, and do all sorts of good things like save babies and cure death.
But no hippies believe we shouldn't do that sort of thing, we should sit in a circle, braid our hair, hold hands and sing songs.
