most ISP's fight for the user's privacy, and refuse to surrender IP's unless court ordered to (if the ISP gave someone your info based on your IP they could get in trouble.. depending on cirumstances). and it still hasn't been a "crime" that can include jail time yet to download stuff P2P (even if you share) so its up to whoever owns the copyright to go after you.. usually not worth their time.. unless you are a massive player in riping/distributing/sharing copyrighted stuff.. what some ISP's do to meet the people half way is to tell them they will no longer provide that user with internet access.. and shut them off.. (this is not the case with my ISP.... maybe luckily)

now.. i use torrents.. many downloader clients available. torrent.com has some free legal movies as well as pay to download stuff.. i use bitcomet although there are other alternatives that many people find to work better.. and to find my torrents i go to isohunt and there are many other sites out there with torrents available.

Yea, I use uTorrent and TPB.org usually for my torrenting stuff.

Ehh, the reason I ask is because my sister knows a girls who is getting sued 5k per song she downloaded on her computer, and there is that case where the lady was ordered in court to pay $222,000 for downloading 22 songs or w/e.

EDIT:

It is weird, I am downloading much much faster now on Veesta than on XP. I am talking about 600KB/s on average! [&:]

I wouldn't dude, MAC's are way to expensive for what ya get. Or if you have time on your hands, downgrade to XP if you are looking for a speed boost.

Why don't you buy say a TL-64Gold CPU or wait for the next generation AMD chips to come out for laptops, I believe they are backwards compatible.

Someone correct me if I am wrong though.

only reason to buy a macbook is the OS since they use intel chips now (and their OS makes me gag. its for little girls) if you want a sweet os go play with linux.. much cooler affects and things you can do with that.. then run mac/win emulators.

I think your sisters friend is lieing about being sued.. if not.. tell her to respond with, I own all of the songs I have downloaded in CD or Tape format and I am not responsible for other people illegally downloading songs. (thats what my bro did all those years back when they actually were trying to sue people over this) he never heard back from them.

Yea the MAC OS is pretty idiot proof. That is a reason why SXGT finds it soo amazing.

Huh, I never thought of that but I guess it could work. You are "backing" up your legally owned songs and don't have a cd player.

Ehh, I am not a big fan of having to use Wine to get most anything to work and sub par driver support.
