RE: Need HELP fix it ticket, recieved letter missed court?
im guessing it was just a mistake. unless he didn't get what the officer was trying to tell him, and he was SUPPOSED
to send it in. he should be able to get it all straightened out.

Your only option is to take it to the judge and talk with him.
Odds are you are going to have to pay the no-show fine but he may let the suspended license part fly.
Do not forget though to mention the sherriff said he would recieve something in the mail but did not.
That could help too.
There is no telling what will happen. This is completely up to the judge.

RE: Need HELP fix it ticket, recieved letter missed court?
"The no show" there wasnt even a notice about the show lol. thats so not right.
Yeah i guess the story is a bit forgiving.. we were going on the freeway from a x mas tree farm, we didnt get a tree tho and a cop was waiting on the freeway ramp. he said one of the headlights are out and he is issuing a fix it ticket for like 15$ and to get it signed off once he got it fixed and wait for paperwork. this happened maybe 2 weeks before x mas.
i don't even understand why sheriffs even bother issuing a head light is out ticket. seems like a waste of time.

not to hijack but....
mr friends new edge has aburnt out bulb in a rear light. instead of having two bars light
up, only one does. could this be grounds for a ticket?
RE: Need HELP fix it ticket, recieved letter missed court?
hmm.. i know what you mean.. i'd say yes.. if the cop was in a pissy mood... he would be like.. oh one of your back lights are out.. TICKET!
on my 95 celica my license plate lights were out ( who knew there were lights there) and i got away with a warning.. i also didnt have a front plate lol i was like well it use to be there...

I'm thinking that is the issue. I'm betting the way it was supposed to work, was that he should have mailed in the ticket which he had signed, and then he would get some sort of confirmation letter in the mail, or a bill for the court costs, or something like that.
You can't just ignore a ticket for 7 months and hope it goes away, even if it is a stupid headlight ticket. Call it a $400 lesson.

RE: Need HELP fix it ticket, recieved letter missed court?
Heres what happened to me. I was young and naive...
I got a fix it ticket for tint a while back. I thought I would be all cool and take my sweet time. 6 months passed and when I went to pay it they told me I owed $6xx and had been driving on suspended license.
I went and sat in traffic court with all the other people who got caught for speeding, running a light, failing to yield, etc. I went up, talked to the judge, told him truthfully what happened (I was a lazy sob and honestly didn't know there was a timetable for fix-it-tickets) told me to get it taken care of today and he reduced the ticket to $10 and had my licene reinstated.
I DID, however, have my ticket present. I'm alsofrom California. If your friend tells the judge the truth you'd be surprised how lienent judges can be, especially without any priors.
