after the economy started to go down the sh!tter about 8 months ago, i moved from construction to sales (selling the stuff i used to buy for my jobs), and although i can say i do know now what the stuff really does cost from the factory, its no where near that bad. we roughly sell stuff between 18-50% profit on average(50% is actually double our cost... being a $3 cost, with a $6 resale). but a $2 item sold at $30, is a 93.33% profit. thats a little outrageous.
Ya'll are harsh. It has it's benefits. I mean, Best Buy and Circuit City were never meant to be "specialists." They just cary a lot of stuff so that it is convenient. If I want a CD, I go to Best Buy. If I want a new TV, I head to a local electronics store that can actually help me.
Granted, they do make a lot of their money off of people who have no clue what they are doing and go and buy things that are extremely overpriced...
But, I can't see how that is their fault when a little research will save people the money. I mean, if I had a product that people would buy at $30 and I would make a lot of money off of it, why would I sell it at $5?
It's just a different kind of store. I don't see why you would "hate" it. Sucks to see it go. Hurts a lot of people job wise...
for $6, id take the chance on that, but i bet you it comes no where in comparison to Monster's HDMI cable. monster cables are gold plated, and are built to reduce and eliminate as much interference as possible.

Actually, they are just as good. Once the cable meets the HDMI standards, they are all equal. both of those cables have gold plated connectors, and there is really no interference to worry about with digital signals. moster cable-type things are the biggest snake-oil deal in the electronics industry; they're akin to the "gain 40HP" BS things you see on ebay for ricers.
Yeah that's what I was going to say. That comparison is off based. Look at the other HDMI cables on that site. The going price for any cables that come close to the quality of the Monster cable is $25-$30...
Edit: On second thought, I kind of agree. I don't know much about the performance of HDMI cables but I did just look on the Best Buy website. $30 is the cheapest they have in that department.
I work at BB, sadly and a 12 ft hdmi that we sell for around 70-90 dollars, I get for about 4. Its that kinda corporate greed that isnt helping us get outta this mess any faster and they wont lower their prices because they already know people will pay it no matter what.
its supply and demand. its like gas, if people need it, they will buy it, regardless of the price.
if you have a High Def tv, and you want the best picture you can get, people are going to pay that kind of money for a cable. hell it could be a $500 cable, and people would still buy it.

This sucks. I liked CC. I've gotten some really good deals there. Just before xmas I got my Sony HD camcorder from them (online), I got my HD TV from them in 2007 and my xbox 360, etc.
Plus it sucks that 30k+ people are going to be out of work. But that's what happens when you have crappy management that doesn't think about the long term strategy and only cares about short term quick bucks. Because when economy situations like we're in now comes along, those companies will die while the rest are only wounded.
