probably close to a full second but that was out of the box and then I dropped the car into cruise control at about 40mph...I drove for about 9 seconds before getting pulled over

Hmmm. I got ticketed for street racing before in my SHO. And I actually went over the limit. But that got dropped to basic speeding even though I didn't have a clean record.
I am sure you'll come out of this perfectly fine.
I sure hope so when I read the statute for here in Florida all I can say is that I dropped a 2 mile long turd from how nervous I got, but after talking to friends and getting in touch with friends that are pretty high ranking officers even though for different departments, I am pretty optimistic that I will come out of this one just fine. Thanks for all the support guys I needed it lol

If what you're saying is 100% correct, it sounds like the cop is just being a douche. Take it to court. Say that you are relatively new to driving a stick and ****ed up working the clutch. You didn't even go WOT I'm assuming
