eventhough i do it every so often, i never actually believe any of the results that people get from those online speed tests. ive gotten results of download speeds of 5Mbps+ on DSL. thats not possible... at least not with the DSL connection i was testing from.
believing the results of those speed tests, is like believing a "death clock" when it says youre going to die in 32yrs 3months, 4days, 28min, and 15sec.

I dunno man I think those speed tests are accurate but thats how and what they are set up for...to test your top speed so that means there side will always max out your connection unless you pick a speed test host in South Africa....
As for every day downloading thats different...most places arent set up to max out your connection or are bogged down by thousands of other users downloading.........
So I guess in the real world no its not realistic but it shows what is possible
Yep thats what I said....thats a touch faster than 1 Megabyte per second....
In other words you are getting 8 Mbps (Megabits) ....
btw 54Mbps = 6.7 Megabytes Per second = that would be awesome internet speed lol
lol yeah. all that 54Mbps means, is just how fast information can be transferred at that particular time between your computer and the router/modem, if the internet connection is that fast or faster.
hell, when people buy wireless stuff, whether if its built into a laptop or a plug-in device for a desktop, most people with their internet speed, could get by without maxing out an 802.11B card.

I've got 6MB DSL with AT&T and regularly get speed tests of 5.2-5.4MB download.
And like everyone else has said, the 54MB is how fast you are connected to your router/network. You are not connected to the internet at 54 MB/s.
